Curriculum

Our school follows the Australian Government mandate of a curriculum that is to be implemented Australia-wide. This will enable a more consistent approach to education for students across the country and in particular for those students moving states. Victorian Curriculum uses an eleven level structure to reflect the design of the new Australian Curriculum whilst retaining Victorian priorities and approaches to teaching and learning.

Victorian Curriculum incorporates the Australian Curriculum F-10 for English, Mathematics, History and Science within the curriculum framework first developed for the Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS). All other curriculum areas will be gradually implemented over the next few years, and until that happens, the curriculum will be based on the recent Victorian Educational Learning Standards (VELS).

Victorian Curriculum takes into account the developmental stages of learning young people experience at school. Whilst student learning is a continuum and different students develop at different rates, they broadly progress though three stage of learning.

  • Prep-Yr. 4: Laying the Foundations
